The Chimbel Village Development Committee (VDC) members finally prepared the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) of their choice at a special meeting in the panchayat on Saturday.It may be recalled that earlier the VDC members had raised objection to the GPDP prepared by the panchayat in which only works like construction of drains, cleaning, garbage collection, etc were suggested.
The locals felt that such works are routine works which should be executed with the help of the local MLA and ZP members.
“The GPDP funds should not be used for such works but instead should be used for projects on community development, health, education, sports, farming, environment, etc,” a local informed.
The VDC members then presented works of their choice which should be taken up in the GPDP.
Among the important works included construction of public and community toilets in various wards, construction of urinal for boys and toilet for girls at St Barbara school, desilting of Chimbelkarin pond, development of existing springs at Shirent and Kirlawada, repair of bundhs, development of open spaces in Chimbel, setting up of library at Indira Nagar, providing water filters and first aid kits to all anganwadis/schools, among others.
The panchayat will now hold a special gram sabha, on Sunday to approve the GPDP.
