MARGAO
The panchayat of Chinchinim-Deussua has issued directions to stop the dumping/storing of dry and wet garbage in the property collected from the commercial hoteliers at Palmar-Grande.
In a notice issued by Secretary Allaudin Maniyar, the panchayat told the owner to stop the piggery activities which cause nuisance, pollution/ stinking in the vicinity, or show cause within 15 days as to why the said piggery activities and storing the dry/wet waste should not be treated as unauthorized and should be stopped.
The secretary stated that a joint inspection along with the sanitary inspector from PHC and panchayat had observed that the mixed garbage was seen dumped in the shed and a foul smell was emanating due to the decomposition of wet garbage at the site and also around the surrounding vicinity.
It was further pointed out that pig-rearing activities are ongoing at four sites on the property and pig sheds are at three sites. The inspection unearthed that the piggery activity discharge was left in the open and let out in the water.
