CM inaugurates PHC at Saligao

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant stated that panch members should endeavour to make their villages swayampurna. He stressed if all the villages become 'swayampurn' then the state will become swayampurna. 

He was speaking after inaugurating the Primary Health Centre at Saligao in the presence of PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar, Saligao MLA Jayesh Salgaonkar, former Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar, Director of Health services Dr Jose D’Sa, ZP member Rupesh Samant and sarpanch Lafira Gomes.

Sawant said, "The state government spent crores to look after the health of the people. This year it has renewed the Din Dayal Swasthya Seva Yojna cards free of cost. The Health Department gives insulin free of cost to diabetic patients. PHCs are set up in each constituency." 

He mentioned that the industries located at Pilerne Industrial Estate require skilled labour. "The government has started Apprenticeship Training Scheme 2021 to create skilled manpower. The Pilerne Industrial estate should also start a similar programme," he suggested. 

Saligao MLA Jayesh Salgaonkar said Candolim Primary Health Centre was overburdened forcing Saligao residents to travel to Mapusa or GMC Bambolim for treatment. "Hence there was a need for a PHC at Saligao," he added. 

The PHC has been set up on the first floor of the Saligao market which was earmarked for panchayat office. 

"The Saligao Comunidade has offered land admeasuring 2,000 square meters behind the Saligao panchayat office for setting up the 20-bedded PHC at Saligao. The government should complete the land acquisition formalities quickly and start the construction of a full-fledged PHC,"  Salgaonkar added.

Sarpanch of Saligao VP Lafira Gomes welcomed the gathering, Eknath Oraskar compered the programme and Shruddha Borkar proposed the vote of thanks.
