CM praised for operating Fast Interceptor Boat

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant not only commissioned the 15M Fast Interceptor Boat (FIB) but also took the opportunity to operate the vessel in the Zuari river and came in for praise for his maneuvering skills.

Sawant was in GSL to commission the 15M FIB and was taken for an inaugural boat ride by GSL's Master Trainer Cyril A. Fernandes along with Vasco MLA Krishna Daji Salkar, DGP Jaspal Singh, GSL CMD Brajesh Kumar Upadhyay and other dignitaries.

The chief minister evinced keen interest in the features of the boat. Taking this opportunity, Fernandes invited Sawant to try his hand at the operation.

Sawant agreed and then within minutes, he was operating the high-speed boat all by himself to the amazement of all present. Salkar, DGP Singh and Upadhyay praised the CM for his skills and learning in an instant.

While disembarking at the end of the boat ride, the chief minister offered special thanks to Fernandes for making his trip memorable.

He also thanked the GSL CMD for building a fine boat for Goa Police.

Later when contacted, Cyril A. Fernandes said he had had the rare honour to take Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on the inaugural boat ride of the newly commissioned 15M Fast Interceptor Boat in Zuari river.

“I was amazed at the operational skills displayed by the CM in manoeuvering the High Speed Boat on learning the skill within minutes from me. He astounded everyone including the DGP of Goa Police and the CMD of GSL by skilfully operating the boat. He received handsome praise for his brave act from everyone present.”
