CM says govt firm on auction of mines

MAPUSA

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said the government was committed to taking proactive steps to resume mining in the State and auction was the only way to resolve the mining imbroglio.

“The State government has taken 100 per cent steps on mining. The law department is framing the rules. Government is firm on going for auction in mining. The work is in progress,” Sawant said.

Last month, the CM had informed that eight iron ore mining blocks would be auctioned by December 15 this year and that the Mineral Exploration Corporation Limited (MECL) was appointed for exploration of the mining leases in the State to identify the blocks.
