CM should resolve lifeguards' issue, says Digambar

PANAJI

Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat on Monday called upon Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to resolve the long-pending issues of lifeguards and charged that the BJP government failed to keep up with its commitment to deliver justice to them.

Kamat participated in the protest staged by the lifeguards at Azad Maidan in Panaji against the lethargic approach of the state government to their demands.

“The Goa government should immediately take the lifeguards under government ambit. I urge the CM to take immediate steps to resolve the long pending demand of the hardworking Goan lifeguards who are demanding justice.

"Beach safety and lifeguarding service is the most essential service in a tourist destination like Goa.

"We have seen many persons losing their lives due to drowning in the months when these lifeguards went on strike. Government should be sensitive towards lifeguards and their demands. The local lifeguards have every right to ask for support from the government,” Kamat added.
