Chief Minister Pramod Sawant inaugurated the Yuva Run marathon at Bombay Road Junction in Pali, marking the beginning of the Sahil Yuva Utsav 2025, organized by the youth of the Sanquelim constituency. The marathon witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 500 contestants, including youth, middle-aged, and senior citizens.
Speaking on the occasion, Sawant stressed the importance of maintaining good health amidst today’s busy and stressful lifestyles. “Youth and elders alike should dedicate at least half an hour every day to exercise and yoga. Healthy individuals contribute to a healthier society, and it is the youth’s responsibility to lead health awareness initiatives,” he said.
The event was attended by several prominent leaders including Goa BJP Youth President Tushar Kelkar, Women In-Charge Sulakshana Sawant and Sahili Mandal President Rama Naik.
District Panchayat Member Gopal Surlkar, Mandal General Secretary Sanjay Naik, Kalidas Gavas, Sarpanch of Pali Santosh Naik, Sarpanch of Amona Sagar Phadte, Sarpanch of Kudnem Babla Malik, Sarpanch of Surla Sahima Gawde, Sarpanch of Velguem Sapna Parsekar, Sarpanch of Harvalem Gaurav Naik, Deputy Mayor of Sahlika Dayanand Boryekar were also present.
Sawant highlighted the government’s and NGOs’ efforts in promoting health through various initiatives, calling the marathon a positive step toward encouraging fitness among all age groups. The Chief Minister inaugurated the marathon by lighting the torch and flagging off the runners, inspiring participants to embrace a healthy lifestyle.
The Sahil Yuva Utsav will continue with several sports and cultural competitions in the coming days, fostering youth engagement and community spirit in the Sanquelim constituency.
