AAP booster: Kejriwal to visit Goa in Oct; review party outreach, strategy

PANAJI
Former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief, Arvind Kejriwal, will be visiting Goa on October 4 and 5, the party’s Goa unit has announced.

The visit gains significance as it is timed with the party’s ongoing efforts to expand its footprint in Goa guided by former Delhi CM, Atishi and ex-Delhi Mayor Dr Shelly Oberoi, ahead of the Zilla Panchayat elections expected to be held this year-end. AAP has said it will contest the ZP poll solo.

It also comes at a time when the party has turned cold and made public its antagonism towards the Congress through its two legislators -- Venzy Viegas and Cruz Silva.

AAP said, Kejriwal will review the party’s ongoing political outreach at the grassroot level but did not announce any scheduled public engagement of their national convenor except for two volunteer meetings, one each in North Goa and South Goa.

“During his two-day visit, AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal will conduct strategy meetings with party leaders and supporters, highlighting our increasing focus on grassroots engagement and electoral preparedness,” the party said in a press release.

AAP’s State president Amit Palekar, said, Kejriwal’s visit will energise the party’s leadership and volunteers in Goa at a time when Goans are frustrated with the ruling BJP’s growing ‘Gundaraj’ and politics of intimidation and fear.

AAP general secretary, Shrikrishna Parab, said the party is singularly focused on concerns of the public.
