The Congress party has demanded a probe through the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the construction of the Honda IDC road, which was washed out due to heavy rains days after it was built.
The Goan had reported that the Goa Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) has suspended its Field Manager at Honda Industrial Estate Mohammed Anwar Baig, after the newly constructed road, under his supervision, was washed out due to rains. He was placed under suspension over failure to maintain quality control of the newly constructed road.
Addressing a press conference on Friday, Congress South Goa MP Captain Viriato Fernandes alleged major corruption in the road work and demanded that the matter be handed over to the CBI for investigation.
“I appeal to the government and the Chief Minister to hand over the case to the CBI for fair investigation. The investigation will expose further illegalities and irregularities of GIDC,” Fernandes said, alleging that GIDC has become “Dean of Corruption”.
Without naming anyone, the MP said that those holding top positions in the Corporation are involved in massive corruption. Fernandes said that he will be writing to the Chief Minister and the Chief Secretary, who is one of the Board Directors of IDC, demanding an investigation.
