Council removes 10 hoardings in Mapusa

In a drive against hoardings illegally installed in the municipality, the Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC) removed 10 hoardings on Friday.

The MMC had identified 15 hoardings illegally installed in the city without permission from the council. Municipal employees removed 10 hoardings, while owners have assured to remove five hoardings.

According to directives of the high court, an MMC team led by Chief Officer Chandrakant Shetkar had inspected the hoardings erected along the national highway, state highway and major district road.

The team had initially identified 40 hoardings in Mapusa city which were erected without permission from the MMC. The council later issued a show-cause notice to the owners concerned. Of the 40 hoardings, 25 hoardings were later permitted by the council and action was initiated against the 15 hoardings.
