CANACONA
A whopping 131 Covid cases recorded in Canacona taluka on a single day led to a surge in the active Covid count to 253 cases on Saturday.
Most fresh cases were recorded in Canacona municipality (68), where the commercial Chaudi town hosts a week-long fair, followed by Poinguinim (25), Loliem-Polem (17), Agonda (9), Khola (6), Shrishthal (4) and Gaondongrim (2).
There were reports that several people have self-quarantined themselves after testing Covid positive with Covid Home Kits.
With 253 Covid active cases as on Saturday, the cumulative total of Covid infections has shot up to 4,191 as indicated in the Taluka health bulletin.
Ever since the third Covid wave struck the State, several people have begun subjecting themselves to home tests using Covid Home Test Kits available in pharmacies and are self isolating themselves.
