Crane driver electrocuted at Ponda

A crane driver got electrocuted after the crane came into contact with live wires at Jofilnagar in Ponda on Thursday afternoon.

According to sources, the crane driver Mehbood Parkewale from Maina Curtorim got electrocuted when his crane came into contact with a live 11 KV cable while he was filling wood into a truck.

The trees near a church were cut a month ago, and the contractor wanted to transport the wood, for which a special crane had been summoned.

While undertaking the work, the crane came into contact with a live electricity cable and the crane driver was seriously injured. He was taken to the Sub District Hospital at Ponda but was declared dead.

Ponda police conducted the panchanama and are investigating the case.
