Cuncolim locals denied jobs despite land given for NIT: AAP

MARGAO
Aam Aadmi Party has said local youth of Cuncolim are not getting jobs in the prestigious National Institute of Technology set up in the town by acquiring the ancestral land.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Goa State Joint Secretary Prashant Naik and youth leader Nesh Coutinho have demanded a thorough investigation into the matter and called for good-quality jobs to be provided to the local residents in NIT.

“During the land acquisition for NIT, the locals who gave their land and other residents of Cuncolim were promised priority in jobs and assured good-quality employment. Late Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had personally given this assurance to the people of Cuncolim. However, in reality, locals have not received any decent jobs,” Naik said.

He emphasised that despite giving their valuable land for the NIT project, Cuncolim residents have gained nothing.
