Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday hinted at increasing the upper limit for beneficiaries under the Deen Dayal Swasthya Seva Yojana (DDSSY) scheme.
Sawant said that his government was seized with the matter and working out the modalities to execute a proposal to increase the upper limit of the DDSSY medical insurance card while speaking on the sidelines of the inaugural event of Dempo group's Vrundavan Hospital at Miramar.
“We are looking to increase the limit for beneficiaries under the DDSSY. We are working on it,” Sawant said.
Sawant also urged all private hospitals to get empanelled with services they offer under DDSSY scheme.
Sawant said, if private hospitals empanel themselves under the scheme it will help reduce a huge chunk of load on the government health system.
According to Dr Balakrishna V Pai, the government's consultant to oversee the cashless medical insurance scheme, close to three lakh cards were auto renewed in the current financial year since April.
Some 56 hospitals both from and outside Goa are currently empanelled under the DDSSY scheme.
