Anjuna Police arrested yet another person in connection with the stabbing of the Calangute youth on Saturday, taking the total of those arrested in the case to 14.
The accused, Brijesh Kashinath Sawant alias Bittu (20) of Pilerne-Marra, was apprehended from Goa-Dodamarg border.
According to police, the accused was holed up in a hotel in Dodamarg.
After getting credible information, a police team led by PI Prashal Dessai in a well-coordinated plan landed in the hotel and nabbed the accused, who was hiding there for the last 15 days.
Police informed that during investigation, a car belonging to the notorious criminal Tarzan Parsekar was attached at the instance of accused Brijesh Sawant.
Police further said that during search of the car, one long-sized sickle and three wooden dandas were found and the same have been attached under the panchanama.
The police have now added Section 25 of the Arms Act in the case.
The accused has been arrested under Sections 143,147,148,307 r/w 149 IPC and remanded to three days police custody.
In the meanwhile, the accused Manoj Singh, brother of notorious criminal Gajendra Singh (alias Chotu) is still eluding the police. More than a week back, Goa Police had issued an arrest warrant against him.
It may be recalled, a 30-year-old youth from Calangute, Ravi Shirodkar was stabbed in the abdomen on October 1 near the Arpora-Nagoa circle. He underwent surgery in the Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim.
Anjuna PI Prashal Dessai is investigating further under supervision of Mapusa SDPO Jivba Dalvi and SP North Shobit Saxena.
