Town and Country Planning Minister Vishwajit Rane’s decision to scrap his proposal to tweak the Goa Building and Development Act to permit a plethora of projects including golf courses, film cities and other such big ticket development in hitherto non-settlement zones, has got statutory sanction with the draft notification rescinded by the TCP department.

The notification rescinding the earlier draft notification which had called for suggestions and objections and had triggered widespread opposition, was issued earlier this week by the Chief Town Planner.

On Friday, after presiding over another TCP Board meeting, Rane said the TCP department will soon sign an MoU with the IGBC for green certification in the State.

“IGBC will also help us with various planning aspects to work towards a Green Goa”  Rane said.

The MoU will provide for IGBC to regularly monitor compliance of green certification as well as completion certificates of projects which apply and are to be granted green certification, he said.
