MARGAO
Congress High Command has reportedly cleared all decks for former Independent MLA Benjamin D’Silva to embrace the party. Benjamin’s entry into the Congress has been pending for some time after his application was forwarded to the high command through the South Goa district office.
The former Independent MLA had called on AICC Goa desk in-charge, Dinesh Gundu Rao, when the latter was in Goa last month.
Congress sources informed that Benjamin’s entry was cleared by the party high command and the communique was sent to GPCC Chief Girish Chodankar on Monday. It is learned that Girish has conveyed the party decision to the district president Joe Dias and the formal entry is expected to take place around mid-July when Gundu Rao visits the State again.
While Congress sources said Benjamin’s entry will be unconditional, without any promise of any ticket, many an eyebrow has been raised amongst ticket aspirants for Velim,
including district president Joe Dias and Velim Sarpanch Savio D’Silva. The duo had been working on the ground for the last one year participating in party membership drives and other programmes.
