Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar has called for Vasco Bhajani Saptah to be recognized as an official cultural festival of Goa, marking its 125th anniversary this year.
Speaking during the zero hour, Amonkar emphasized that Vasco Saptah is more than just a fair or religious event. He highlighted its deep religious, cultural, and social significance for the port town and its role in shaping Goa’s cultural identity.
The festival has been a key reference point for other temples across the state to start similar Bhajani Saptah celebrations in their villages.
Amonkar urged that Vasco Bhajani Saptah be officially designated as a Cultural Festival of Goa and requested generous grants to support the event's organization and ensure its grand celebration.
