The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee has demanded initiation of a vigilance inquiry against IAS office and Law Secretary of Goa Chokha Ram Garg and the termination of his services for creating mess over municipality reservation at the behest of the BJP government.
In its complaint addressed to the Home Secretary and Goa’s Chief Secretary, Congress has demanded that the government should immediately relieve Garg as Goa’s Law Secretary and that the Ministry of Home Affairs should immediately terminate his services for having flouted and violated the Constitution and also to conduct a vigilance inquiry against the senior IAS officer.
“It is with deep anguish that we are constrained to present this complaint against Choka Ram Garg, IAS (2008 AGMUT), presently posted as Law Secretary, Goa and demand immediate action against him, including his suspension,” the complaint reads.
Congress President Girish Chodankar has alleged that the BJP government, instead of filling up the post of the State Election Commissioner on top priority, handed over the charge to Garg with the sole motive of having an officer pliable to enable its manipulations. He charged that, as the SEC, Garg completely flouted the constitutional mandate and attempted to over-reach the High Court and misinterpreted the order of the Supreme Court.
“The government should conduct a vigilance inquiry against Garg and if found that there is any corrupt act involved including amassing of wealth in his name or the name of his family member, he should be prosecuted under the law,” Chodankar demanded.
