Urging locals to build soak pits to channelize sewage water, an official of the Health Department warned that the highest number of dengue and malaria cases was reported from Chandanwadi and Boa Vista in Bastora.
“The locals should not release sewage water in the drains but build soak pits. Chandanwadi and Boa Vista has become a hub for vector-borne diseases. People should take steps not to give opportunities for mosquitoes to breed,” the officer said, while addressing the gram sabha.
The officer also said that the village health and sanitation committee will take appropriate action against those who are responsible for releasing sewage water in the drains.
The panchayat member Subhash Moraskar informed the gram sabha that the panchayat had recently carried out site inspection of the areas along with health officials and necessary instructions have been issued to people residing there.
