Don’t be afraid to get tested, admitted for Covid: Cansualim HO

VASCO

Cansaulim PHC Health Officer Dr Succoro Quadros on Tuesday appealed to the people to get themselves tested for the slightest symptoms and if required, get themselves admitted at an early stage to avoid further complications.

Speaking to reporters, Dr Quadros said the newly upgraded Cansaulim PHC had begun functioning and that it was operating a Step Up Covid hospital to manage Covid patients with comorbidities at an early stage.

“Anyone testing positive and has other parameters like diabetes which is not under control must not stay home and admit themselves in Cansaulim PHC, where we will manage their parameters of diabetes and hypertension immediately.”

“Today, we get calls at the last minute with people complaining of lack of oxygen, which is a late symptom and such people are referred to District Hospital, GMC or ESI Hospital for a separate treatment.”

“Any Covid patient with comorbid conditions or continuous fever for a week must get themselves admitted even if their oxygen levels are good," said Dr Quadros.

“These hospitals reduce the chances of getting pneumonia, depleting oxygen levels, increased diabetes and pressure and thus reducing mortality rates. We have a 24x7 round of doctors in Cansaulim PHC and I only request the people to admit themselves early and even our best efforts, if the patient does not improve we will send them to SGDH, GMC or ESI hospitals," said Dr Quadros.

He appealed to people not to get scared to visit hospitals even with slight symptoms or mild fever which lasts only for a day.

“We can test them, give medications or even admit them at an early stage and cure them. However, there are some people who simply panic because a neighbour has tested positive. I appeal the people to test themselves and admit themselves at an early stage," said Dr Quadros.
