The Dramapur-Sirlim gram sabha on Sunday opposed the Goa Bhumiputra Adhikarini Bill 2021, demanding that the government withdraw the Bill in to to without keeping the option open to bring back the Bill at a later stage.
At the gram sabha chaired by Sarpanch Sanjana Chari on Sunday, the Goa Bhumiputra Adhiharini Bill 2021 came up for discussion wherein members sought to know the grounds on which the panchayat had earlier rejected the Bill.
After many discussions, the gram sabha adopted a resolution, calling for the total scrapping of the Bill. Members called for the withdrawal of the Bill in to to, insisting that the government should not get the Bill again in the Assembly at a later date.
Meanwhile, gram sabha member Dominic Norohna has questioned the government’s rationale in introducing the Goa Public Duty Bill 2021 seeking to levy fees on both domestic and commercial power consumers to maintain the streetlight facility.
Norohna pointed out that the common man has been overburdened by the prevailing inflation and wondered how the government can charged the consumers for the maintenance of the streetlights.
He placed a resolution at the gram sabha calling for the withdrawal of the Goa Public Duty Bill 2021seeking to imposing an amount of 0.05 paisa on residential bills and 0.08 paisa on commercial bills, which will add to the burden of the Bills paid by the people. “Streetlight facility should be made available free to common man”, Norohna demanded.
