Tivim MLA Nilkant Halarnkar on Sunday said that he was sure of getting the BJP ticket for the 2022 assembly polls but even if he was denied one, he would remain with the party.
Halarnkar also said the BJP would get a majority even without an alliance but finally it was for the party to take a call whether to have an alliance or not with other like-minded parties.
“I am 100 percent sure I will be considered for the party ticket. My party knows that I am working on the ground and I am with the people. But even if I am denied a ticket I will stick with the party,” Halarnkar said.
He said he did not see any threat to his prospects of getting a ticket in the assembly 2022 polls even if BJP struck an alliance with any other party.
Chief Minister, Pramod Sawant had recently said that not all sitting MLAs may get tickets for the assembly elections scheduled for next year and that the party will review each MLA's performance and connect with the people.
Harlarnkar said BJP would get a majority even if it contests on its own but he will stand by whatever decision the party takes on alliance.
“Without alliance we will easily bag 23 seats. We have a government in the State and at the Centre. It’s not that we are desperate to have an alliance. But finally the party will decide whether to forge an alliance or not,” he said.
He said the entry of Trinamool Congress in the State will have no impact on the prospects of BJP in the ensuing elections.
