In a major seizure, Pernem Police busted a drugs racket in Keri-Pernem and confiscated charas, ganja and marijuana plants valued at over Rs 1 crore. Three presons have been arrested in this connection.
According to reports, police received reliable information regarding illegal drug activities from a residence at Keri.
Accordingly, Pernem PI Jivba Dalvi and his team raided a house in Thorlebad-Keri and conducted a surprise search of the residence and backyard.
During the search, cannabis plantation weighing 2.29 kgs and valued at Rs 5 lakh was seized along with 1.327 kgs ganja valued at Rs 1.3 lakh and 2.556 kgs of charas valued at Rs 1.02 crore.
Three persons in the premises, Rama Kerkar (22), Rashmi Kerkar (44) and Shivaji Kerkar (34) have been arrested under the NDPS Act.
The raiding team consisted of PI Jivba Dalvi, PSI Sanjit Kanolkar, PSI Harish Vaigunkar, PSI Vivek Haldankar, PCs Vinod Pednekar, Ravi Maloji, Anishkumar Poke, Yeshodeep Ugevekar, Jivan Govekar, Mahesh Naik, Uday Goasavi, Mithil Parab and Bhaskar Chari, LPC Smita Gawas and LHG Trupti Satorskar.
Further investigation is in progress under the supervision of SDPO Gajanand Prabhudessai and SP North Utkrisht Prasoon.
