OLD GOA
Stating that the law is equal for all, Santa Cruz Deputy Sarpanch Domnic Pereira said the panchayat is merely acting on the complaints received.
“There is no separate law for activists,” Pereira opined, when questioned by reporters over the legal action taken by the panchayat against Dias.
“We have received complaints against Dias and are acting on the same,” Pereira informed.
But, when questioned why actions are being taken only after the February gram sabha incident, Pereira denied that the panchayat is targeting Dias due to the fiasco.
Pereira further said he cannot comment on the complaint made against Dias by 54 locals.
On the removal of Dias as the VDC convenor after the incident and that too without placing the same before the gram sabha, Pereira said that the decision was taken at the VDC meeting.
However, when pointed out that the decision to remove convenor needs to be taken at the gram sabha, Pereira said prior consultation was obtained over the issue.
