Efforts to defame govt on social media failed: BJP

PANAJI
Smarting from the victory in the Zilla Panchayat elections, BJP on Monday said people from the rural areas gave a thumping mandate to the party and all efforts by the opposition and NGOs to defame the government through agitations against projects mainly on social media failed.

Addressing the media after the elections results were declared, BJP state President Sadanand Shet Tanavade said, "NGOs and political parties were hand in gloves during agitations to defame the government. Social media was mainly used for this agenda", he said.

Elections results clearly show that people are with BJP and that the Opposition was just maligning the image of the government through anti-government press releases, Tanavade said.

"Elections were held in nearly 80 per cent of the State. That means Goans have wholeheartedly voted for BJP and for development”, he said.
