The issue of “encroachment” on private land by Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd for double-tracking at Velsao echoed in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.
South Goa Member of Parliament Captain Viriato Fernandes raised the issue of encroachment by RVNL on private land for double-tracking in Velsao and the case filed against Velsao Sarpanch Diana Gouveia for protecting the villagers.
Raising the matter of urgent importance during Zero Hour, the South Goa MP urged the government to address the issue and take necessary action against those responsible for the encroachment, despite a stop-work notice issued by the panchayat.
“The encroachment and dumping of mud by RVNL have completely blocked access to many houses, and the residents, including the elderly and children, are now completely isolated,” he added.
