Family members of the senior citizen, Venkatesh Karapurkar, who died after being run over by a lorry, refused to take possession of the body as work on the rumblers was yet to start on Thursday morning, as promised the previous evening.
However, as work on the rumblers started later in the day, the family took possession of the body and held the final rites.
Speaking to The Goan, Karapurkar’s son Kunal informed that since the work on the rumblers did not start even after 11 am, as promised, they had decided not to take possession of the body.
“Yesterday, my father died in a mishap and tomorrow, it could be somebody else,” Kunal informed and stated that if the government is not pressured, nothing will happen.
But, as the work on the rumblers started, family members took possession of the body and held the final rites, which was attended by a large number of villagers.
