Fatal accident sparks outcry: Urgent road safety measures demanded at Naibag junction

A day after yet another fatal accident at the Naibag junction in Pernem, concerned locals and activists gathered to address the longstanding safety issues plaguing this accident-prone area along the highway. Despite repeated pleas for improvements, the absence of proper road alignment and a flyover has led to numerous fatal accidents.

The locals and activists voiced their frustrations over the lack of effective measures taken by authorities to ensure road safety. They pointed out the negligence of engineers and government officials, emphasizing the urgent need for action to prevent further loss of lives.

One of the primary concerns highlighted is the absence of a service road, exacerbating the risks for commuters. Additionally, inadequate traffic management strategies, such as ineffective speed control measures and improper road signage, have contributed to the recurring accidents at the junction.

Despite past promises and consultations with the Panchayat and other government departments, little progress has been made in implementing lasting solutions. Locals demand immediate action, including the installation of necessary road infrastructure such as flyovers, proper signage, and speed control mechanisms.

Moreover, locals are calling for accountability from government agencies and are prepared to escalate their protests if concrete steps are not taken. They stressed that the safety of commuters should be paramount, urging authorities to prioritize the community's well-being over bureaucratic delays and inefficiencies.
