Fatorda police book case of forgery

The Fatorda police have registered an offence of forgery of a residency certificate for the purpose of registering a marriage in the office of the Salcete Sub Registrar.

The police action has come following a complaint lodged by the Salcete Sub Registrar, Suraj R Vernekar, which stated that the accused person, Saddamhusen Shahajan Kamate, a resident of Fatorda-Salcete, and Bhosale Ranjeet Rajkumar, resident of Warkhandem-Ponda and others with their common intention forged the residence certificate having certificate number REV052384308-64049.

The police have further alleged that the forged certificate was used as a genuine document to be uploaded from the office of the accused No.2, i.e. from the office of Common Service Centre, Margao, for the purpose of registering the marriage of the accused number one and others in the office of the Civil Registrar cum Sub Registrar. Further investigation is being conducted by Fatorda PSI Amin A Naik.

Earlier this month, the Salcete Sub Registrar lodged a complaint with the Fatorda police stating that his office had come across forged residence certificates used as genuine for the purpose of marriage registration in the office.
