Female tourist hurt as bike falls off bridge

CANACONA

A female tourist was injured after the scooter she was riding plunged off a culvert bridge at Agonda on Monday night.

The mishap occurred when the tourist was was crossing over the bridge on a two-wheeler, when the vehicle strayed to the extreme side and went over the unprotected walls. The woman and scooter fell off the culvert bridge.

The injured woman was attended by locals who assembled after learning about her mishap.

Constructed two years ago, the new culvert bridge was made operational even before completion of approach roads on both sides. The bridge is still left without proper railings and unfinished portions of approach roads on either side.

Locals have accused the PWD for the incomplete works and also blamed the local panchayat for the mishaps taking place on the culvert bridge.
