Female voters outnumbered their male counterparts at the polling booths in the bypolls for the wards of Orlim and Rachol village panchayats of Salcete taluka held on Saturday.By-election for Ward no VI of Orlim village panchayat recorded around 62.98%, while election for the Ward no One of Rachol village panchayat registered a poll percentage of 56.82%.
At Orlim, of the total 114 voters who cast their vote in the bypoll, around 71 voters turned out to be women and 43 males.
Similarly, for the bypoll to the ward No one of Rachol panchayat, around 116 voters out of the total 204 voters have turned out to be females and 88 males.
Salcete Mamlatdar Laxmikhant Desai informed that by-election for the two wards of Orlim and Rachol were conducted in a peaceful manner. He said the ballot boxes of the two wards have been sealed and will be opened on the day of counting.
