The Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) has started to sign leave and licence agreements with the legal occupants of the municipal market shops.
The CCP Mayor Uday Madkaikar informed that around 15 occupants have come forward to sign the documents. “Some occupants have expired and there is legal heir issues,” added Madkaikar.
On Tuesday, 2 legal occupants have signed the leave and licence agreement.
Speaking about the names of occupants that are in dispute, the Mayor claimed that only the 150 names of occupants, the agreements will be done. “The rest disputed occupant issues the government has to settle,” said the Mayor.
He informed that of the last 18 years, rent payment dues will be taken in installments with no interest from the legal occupants.
Meanwhile, the Mayor informed that the CCP has decided to pay an amount of Rs 8 crore towards electricity bill usage for the market since its inception.
CCP has taken benefit of one-time settlement scheme of the electricity department.
“Rs 2.97 crore initial installment for the payment of bills will be paid in 7 days,” said Mayor Madkaikar.
