In yet another case of land fraud, the Ponda police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against three real estate agents and a lawyer for alleged forgery and illegal alteration of a property at Kundaim.
As per the complaint filed by Jay Ramakrishna Curchorkar, three persons of a Dona Paula-based real estate firm in connivance with a lawyer forged the signatures of his in-laws on the power of attorney to alter the area of property of Survey number 27/2 in the Village Panchayat of Kundaim.
The alteration from 2,017 sq mtrs to 2,925 sq mtrs was carried out without the knowledge of the original owners and forged documents were produced before the Office of Civil Registrar cum Sub Registrar Ponda to make the Sale deed of the property.
As per the complaint, the offense occurred between March 26, 2019, and November 28, 2023. While a case under several sections of the IPC is registered, no arrest has been made so far.
