Calangute Police have registered an offence against a 58-year-old man for allegedly assaulting his sister-in-law and her daughter during a property dispute at Naikwaddo, Calangute.
The FIR is based on a complaint filed by Maria Pereira (54), a housewife residing at Naikwaddo.
According to the complaint, the incident occurred on October 23 around 10.30 am at the complainant’s residence.
Maria alleged that the accused, Feliciano Pereira, her brother-in-law, arrived at their home wielding a cricket wicket and began abusing the family.
He allegedly kicked a laterite stone that had been placed for fencing measurements and attempted to assault her.
The complainant stated that when her daughter, Milosha Pereira, intervened, the accused struck her on the leg and head with the cricket wicket, causing a bleeding injury to her head.
He then allegedly abused both Maria and her husband and attempted to attack her husband using a laterite stone, a crowbar (paray) and a PVC pipe.
Police have registered the offence under Sections 131 (voluntarily causing hurt), 352 (assault), and 118(1) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
Further investigation is underway.
