PERNEM
The flooding of the Kadashi Mopa River has cut off people residing in this area. School children could not go to school as well as labourers for work. In this area, two bridges that have been built over Kadashi Mopa River are of low height. People have been demanding repeatedly the construction of higher bridges but in vain. Last year also this river was flooded and at that time too 50 people were cut off completely.
Last year, local MLA Praveen Arlekar, Mamlatdar, Deputy Collector, Sarpanch, Talathi, Irrigation department officials visited the area and after assessing the situation had assured the panch members and the locals that the higher bridges will be constructed. But the work of new bridge has not started till date on account of which the residents, and the students are facing a lot of hardships. If in future similar flood like situation arises then the water may enter the houses of the people causing heavy damages. The villagers are therefore demanding that the government should construct a bridge of bigger height at suitable location as well as, retaining wall on both sides.
