Former minister Suresh Parulekar passes away

MAPUSA

Former industries minister and prominent businessman Suresh Parulekar passed away at his residence in Panaji on Monday. He was 82 years old.

Parulekar was a well-known figure in Goan politics, having been elected as the Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Calangute in 1989 on a Congress ticket.

He was later appointed as the cabinet minister for industries, where he made significant contributions to the State's development.

Before his tenure as an MLA, Parulekar served as a member of the Reis Magos Panchayat and went on to become the village sarpanch.

His leadership and dedication in local governance paved the way for his subsequent election to the state legislature.

He is survived by his wife, one son and two daughters.

Family sources have confirmed that his cremation will take place on Tuesday at Verem.
