Fracas in Shiroda gram sabha over RG recording proceedings

Rival groups lodge complaints and counter-complaints

PONDA

Even before the Shiroda Gram Panchayat started its meeting, RG supporters and panchayat committee had verbal fights and police have registered complaints from both the parties.

The police has registered complaint on the basis of sarpanch Mugdha Shirodar, against Manila alias Deepinti Dhiraj Shirodkar, Sonali Somnath Naik, Shailesh Tatu Naik, Vipul Ravindra Naik and Dhanraj Bhaskar Naik. Also, on Manila alias Deepinti Dhiraj Shirodkar’s complaint an offense has been registered against panch member Suhas Naik and Meghashyam Shirodkar. PI Tushar Lotlikar and Nitesh Kankonkar are investigating the matter.

According to the police, the Shiroda gram sabha was to begin at 10 am but the RG workers started recording the gram sabha proceedings. Sarpanch Mugdha Shirodkar requested the workers not to do recording in the gram sabha. If anyone wants the recording, then he/she would be provided the recording done by the panchayat, she stated.

But after this there was tension in the sabha, and some locals threw water on the panchayat committee members. The sound system got spoilt and panchayat suffered losses of Rs 25. The sarpanch complained in the police station against five persons.

The opposite party, RG member Manila alias Deepinti  Dheeraj Shirodkar lodged a complaint in the police station stating that panch Meghashyam Shirodkar and Suhas Naik tried to molest her.

MLA Viresh Borkar appeared in the police station.

The police have registered complaints of both the rival parties on Sunday evening. MLA Viresh Borkar stated that the panchayat minister should intervene in the matter as it pertains to molesting of a woman in the gram sabha by panch members. He also said that locals ask questions about their issues in the gram sabha so, they can do the recording.

Sarpanch Mugdha Shirodkar had requested that the panchayat would be providing the recording done by the panchayat, if needed, but the locals were recording despite of that, that’s why there was a quarrel, and some of the locals threw water from the bottles on the panch members.
