The National Education Policy (NEP) will be implemented in toto from the next academic year at the higher education level -- at University-affiliated undergraduate Colleges and post-graduate University level.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, who also holds the education portfolio, said: "The state government will implement 100% of the syllabus in higher education institutes along the lines of the National Education Policy (NEP).”
He claimed that the NEP implementation from the college to university level has already begun and from the next academic year it will be put in practice one-hundred per cent.
For the Skill Development component, Sawant said the State government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with industry associations who will work on it.
Sawant also claimed that NEP implementation has also begun in State-run as well as State-aided schools and that the government will also embark on sensitizing teachers, parents and students about the NEP.
Educational institutions meanwhile are wary of the government's plans as there is no mention of any plan for infrastructural upgrade necessary to implement the NEP.
