Gammon India, which is involved in the 4-lane port connectivity project, volunteered to patch up potholes along a road in Baina on Wednesday.
The road near Ravindra Bhavan at Baina was in bad condition and had developed a lot of potholes.
Many motorists and residents complained to local councillor Ramchandra Kamat, who, in turn, took up the matter with Urban Development Minister and Mormugao MLA Milind Naik.
Naik is believed to have directed Gammon India to repair the potholes .
When contacted, Kamat said many minor accidents had been reported at thhe junction.
“A lot of people, including senior citizens, arrive here since the RTO office is shifted to Baina and is extremely close to the location. I sought the intervention of Urban Development Minister Milind Naik and Gammon India later volunteered to fill the potholes with concrete.”
“They have covered the potholes using cement. Besides filling the potholes at Baina, we also filled a huge pothole near the Indian Oil junction at Vasco using the remaining concrete from a cement mixer provided by Gammon India,” said Kamat.
