In a major move to expand beyond beach tourism, the Goa Tourism Department has initiated a strategic partnership with the Government of Madhya Pradesh to develop joint tourism circuits focusing on heritage, wildlife, and cultural experiences.
The meeting, held between Director of Tourism Kedar Naik and Principal Secretary (Culture, Tourism & Public Relations), Government of Madhya Pradesh, Sheo Shekhar Shukla, IAS, discussed creating synergy between the two states to promote two-way tourism ” encouraging travellers from Madhya Pradesh to explore Goa’s cultural and heritage destinations, and vice versa.
Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte said the collaboration shows Goa’s intent to diversify its tourism offerings and promote responsible, experience-driven travel.
"This partnership strengthens our efforts to promote tourism that goes beyond beaches, giving travellers deeper access to heritage and cultural narratives. Madhya Pradesh and Goa share a complementary tourism profile that can benefit both regions through collaborative circuits, knowledge sharing, and enhanced visitor experiences,” he said.
Director of Tourism Kedar Naik said the discussions have opened avenues for joint product development in heritage and cultural tourism. “We are keen to build curated experiences that encourage visitors to explore the richness of both States,” he said.
The Madhya Pradesh government has invited Goa Tourism officials and trade representatives to visit the State in the next quarter to continue the dialogue and plan joint initiatives. Goa, in turn, plans to host tourism stakeholders from Madhya Pradesh to strengthen cultural and heritage linkages.
