Goan Varta's Diwali special issue was launched on Friday by deputy chief minister Chandrakant Kavlekar on the auspicious day of Dhanatrayodashi.
“At a time when we all are engulfed with negativity surrounding us, this launching ceremony has come as a breath of fresh air, as it has brought together people from different walks of life on a single platform,” said Sanjay Dhavalikar, editor, Goan Varta, who was speaking after the inauguration of Goan Varta Diwali special issue at the hands of the deputy chief minister Chandrakant Kavalekar. Mentioning that this is the sixth consecutive year that Goan Varta is bringing out the Diwali special issue, Dhavalikar explained how difficult it is to keep going, year after year, especially in challenging situations.
“If we look into the history, Diwali issues in India, especially in Maharashtra, have a tradition that goes as far as a century. In this tiny state of Goa, this time, we have offered a platform for Goan writers. The issue carries poems, articles, panel discussions and even a section for gazals,” briefed Dhavalikar.
He further added, “Amid dark hours, we have to maintain our faith in goodness and reaffirm our hope in positivity. This is a must as we have to bring out a newspaper each morning that is wanted and welcomed. With supportive management like Fomento Media, we are sure to surmount all difficulties and march ahead with our heads held high and add more verticals in the future to the existing ones. Goan Varta Live is a newly launched baby in our family and we are sure it will touch newer horizons.”
