Goa’s August GST revenue sees just 4 per cent growth

For Goa, August 2024 witnessed merely 4 per cent surge in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) revenue, as State figures stood at Rs 531 crore as against the preceding year’s Rs 509 crore.

At national level, GSTG collection went up by 10 per cent from the same period last year to Rs 1,74,962 crore. This growth was observed across all categories: Central GST (CGST), State GST (SGST), Integrated GST (IGST), and cess.

A year before, the gross GST revenue collected in the month of August, 2023 was Rs 1,59,069 crore.

The CGST collections rose to Rs 30,862 crore, while SGST collections increased o Rs 38,411 crore. IGST, which includes revenues from imports, surged to o Rs 93,621 crore, and cess collections amounted to Rs 12,068 crore. 

A 10 per cent increase in collections on a year-to-month basis at the start of the festive season for the year indicates that consumption is robust and will only improve further in the coming festival months.
