The State government has amended the general pool residential accommodation allotment rules and has made it mandatory for officials to vacate the allotted quarters within a maximum of four months from the date of retiring or being transferred.
"If any tenure Officer, who is allotted quarters of Type ‘D’, ‘E’ or ‘F’, proceeds to a different place of duty on promotion, deputation or transfer or on foreign service or retires from the service of the Government of Goa, the Allotting Authority may permit him to retain his accommodation in the State of Goa for a period of two months," the new section inserted in the rules said.
However the rule makes an exception in genuine cases and permits holding on to the quarter for another four months but on payment of normal rent and on a formal written request.
