The department of Environment and Climate Change has revised the administration-cum-processing fees for projects seeking prior environmental clearances (EC).
Now, iron ore mining operators will be charged between Rs 7.50 lakh to Rs 20 lakh based on total lease area, to obtain prior EC. Earlier, the charges were Rs 5 lakh.
Those applying for expansion or transfer of iron ore mining lease would also be charged an administration-cum-processing fee varying from Rs 2.50 lakh to Rs 10 lakh, depending upon the lease area and whether it is expansion or transfer.
For a new basalt quarry, the charges would be Rs 70,000 while for expansion it is Rs 30,000. Similarly for laterite, it is Rs 30,000 and Rs 15,000 respectively.
Further, for obtaining EC for building and construction project from 20,000 sq mtrs upto 1,50,000 sq mtrs, the applicant will have to shell out Rs 2 lakh towards EC, while for township and area development project above that will attract Rs 3 lakh fees.
Also, for obtaining prior EC for a mineral beneficiation project of up to one lakh and above two lakh will attract a fee of Rs 1.50 lakh to Rs 4 lakh.
The industrial project with Rs 100 crore investment will attract a fee of Rs one lakh while for those above Rs 100 cr would be charged Rs 2 lakh.
Similarly for river valley projects, less than or equal to 100 megawatts, would be charged Rs 5 lakh while its expansion will cost Rs 2.50 lakh.
The fees are also revised for highway projects, wherein for new State highway, up to 50 kms the fees applicable are two lakh while above 50 kms, the authority will have to shell out Rs three lakh. For its expansion, the fees vary from Rs one lakh to Rs 1.50 lakh.
Further, to obtain prior EC for airport expansion, Rs 2.50 lakh would be charged.
The fees for distillery projects are also revised. The distilleries project, with less than 10 KLD would be charged Rs 1.50 lakh, those less than 20 KLD would attract Rs 2 lakh and less than 30 KLD would be Rs three lakh. Their expansion will also attract fees between Rs one lakh to Rs 1.50 lakh.
