Govt inks deal with PFC to fund green energy initiatives

PANAJI

The Goa government has got into a formal deal with Public sector Power Finance Corporation (PFC) under which the State's initiatives in the green energy sector will be funded.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by PFC with the Goa government in Delhi earlier this week where Chief Minister Pramod Sawant was present. Under it, some of the projects the Goa government proposes to build in the energy sector to tackle climate change will get financial support from PFC.

Solar and wind power projects, green hydrogen and the promotion of electric vehicles besides some others like waste to wealth projects proposed by the Goa government are likely to benefit from the deal.

Additionally, PFC will also provide the Goa government with its financial expertise to drive climate initiatives and catalyze energy transition through emerging technologies, a statement issued by PFC said.

“This initiative is an innovative partnership between government of Goa and World Bank on the one hand and the leading financial institutions PFC, SIDBI and NABARD on the other to finance climate priorities," the statement added.
