Citing that non-Goan candidates are taking away government jobs, Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) supremo Manoj Parab reignited the pitch for the Person Of Goan Origin (POGO) Bill.
Speaking to reporters in Panaji on Friday, Parab informed that in the recent recruitment of police constables in the Goa Police department, over 30% candidates selected are non-Goans.
“In the unreserved category for male, 340 candidates have been selected of which 105 are non-Goans, which amounts to over 30%,” Parab informed while stating that it is because of this that RGP is demanding that government jobs be reserved for POGO.
“This government does not want to pass POGO Bill as they want to give jobs to non-Goans based on the 15-year residence certificate,” he said and alleged that the BJP government is only interested in playing vote bank politics by giving jobs to non-Goans.
Parab further said in the waiting list, there are majority Goans. “Why are Goans on the waiting list when they could easily make it to the main list,” he posed. He then urged the youth to question the ministers over non-Goan candidates being given preference for government jobs when the ministers come to visit their homes.
Parab also hit out at Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for stating that Goans will get jobs at IIT when, at Mopa, non-Goan candidates are included in the recruitment list, reserved for Goans.
“This is the exact reason why the government does not want to pass the POGO Bill as it would be impossible for them to give jobs to non-Goans,” he stated.
