MARGAO
Saying the BJP government must start preparation for the likely third wave of Covid, Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat on Tuesday said he has proposed a Covid testing centre at Malbhat in my constituency and urged Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and the Health Minister to ensure that the same is started immediately.
Kamat inspected the venue for the proposed Covid testing centre at Malbhat with Deputy Collector Jyoti Kumari, Joint Mamlatdar Raghuraj Faldessai and Talathi Kalpesh Deulkar on Tuesday.
“It is important that this testing facility is commissioned immediately, so that people can remain safe. There are reports of the third wave of Covid likely to come. I hope government will not find politics in my proposal and stall it,” he said.
Reacting to the inauguration event of the “Covid Vaccination Programme” by Tourism Minister and Pernem MLA Manohar alias Babu Ajgaonkar on Monday at Adarsh High School, the Margao MLA said, “It is due to my proposal and continuous follow-up with the Collector that the four-day vaccination programme started in Margao.”
I had written to the Collector on April 28 and May 1 giving names of the locations where the vaccination camps could be held. I am happy that publicity hungry BJP got an opportunity to click photos.”
He said that his team worked silently to help people reach to vaccination centres. “Our NSUI team is here in Margao to assist senior citizens and they arranged vehicles to provide them transportation to the vaccination centres. We don’t want to publicise our work as this service gets blessings from the hearts of beneficiaries,” he said.
Kamat added: “I am working day and night to help people. I have visited each and every house and locations which got damaged during cyclone. I am available at all times to help people who need oxygen, medicines, beds etc. But, I don’t feel that one has to take photos of each and every work and post on social media.”
