Govt schemes: Now, an officer in every p’yat for effective implementation

PANAJI
The government has decided to appoint an officer Swayanpurna Mitra (a friend to make village self-sufficient) in every 190 panchayats of Goa to implement schemes in each panchayat under the drive Swayanpurna Goa and Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Chief Secretary Parimal Rai has issued an order in this regard. The officers from Goa Civil Service, Mamlatdars or officers from Block development cadres will be appointed as “Swayampurna Mitras”.

These officers will be given the task to make awareness about the various schemes in the village so that people take benefits of the scheme. These officers will also work to provide information about alternate sources of income to the village people.

The panchayat secretaries and the sarpanchas will now have to work along with the officer allotted to the panchayat to make villages self-sufficient.

A total of 204 officers, which include these Swayampurna Mitras and nodal officers are being given special training from October 24 to 30 at SCERT, Porvorim.

Then the officers have to visit the panchayats allotted to them. Earlier, some colleges were given the task to do the job as “Swayampurna Mitra “but this was not successful.

Earlier, Directorate of Higher Education and Goa Institute of Public Adminstration and Rural  Development (GIPARD) has prepared a special report on how to make people self-sufficient.
