Canacona health teams will be visiting schools and higher secondary schools to vaccinate children in the 15-18 year age group beginning today.Addressing a letter to respective Headmasters/Principals of High schools and Higher Secondary Schools of Canacona, the Health Officer has asked to obtain consent from parents of eligible children/students in the age group of 15-18 for Covid vaccination of Covaxin only.
Further stating the vaccination programme will be held in the premises of the schools itself on the given dates from January 3to 10, the health official has asked for the number of boys and girls born on or before 2007 in the age group of 15-18 and mainly studying in classes IX to XII.
Besides the parent's consent, the Health Officer has asked parents to accompany their children and also sought assistance of two teachers in each school to assist the Health team and has sought space in three well ventilated rooms to carry out the vaccination as per government of India protocol.
Children eligble for vaccination have been asked to carry their water bottles, Aadhar card/passbook for identification and reports of any medical health issues or any medication, states Canacona Health Centre Health Officer Dr Sneha Amonkar, in her letter to the respective schools.
